Wearable florals for an intimate maternity photo session at Ravenswood Mansion, Brentwood TN
Creative pregnancy portraits | A wintery floral maternity session with Darien Photography at Ravenswood Mansion, Brentwood TN
While editing Marisa’s photos from her maternity session I was listening to a podcast about how life can be transformed after a tragedy. Don’t ask me why I chose that one. I was intrigued by the title: “The Letter.” I first heard about it while listening to another podcast I like, and I thought I would like it as well. I couldn’t stop listening!
Well, it is weird and beautiful how sometimes it works out and the universe just sends me things that somehow match the feel of the photos I am editing.
When I first met Marisa, it was during the beginning of the pandemic, when I offered “porch sessions” during the lockdown. She was mourning the loss of her husband, but wanted some pictures with her toddler son. I later had a session to celebrate her graduation from her master’s degree and then another one featuring the spring blooms in Nashville.
I was super happy for her when she told me she was engaged and pregnant again! She hired me for her engagement photos, but the pregnancy turned out to be a bit difficult at the beginning, so we had a maternity session instead. I surprised her with amazing wearable floral arrangements by Echoes of Eden Florals and I am so grateful that Marisa was excited about them and trusted my vision. Even her fiancé wanted to wear the headpiece (scroll down to see the last photo of the session!)
Coming back to the podcast I was listening to… I will leave you with a quote from it:
“No story about the human experience is static. The stories change and evolve, because the people change and evolve. And the people in this story are proof that we can heal, from even the deepest wounds. We grieve because we love. So our grief doesn’t really end, but it changes us, and sometimes in that transformation we can find surprising gifts, or what some might call: miracles.”
So incredibly happy for the miracle Marisa and Foster have created. I can’t wait to meet her.
