Ruth and SeungJin are such a handsome couple, smart, fun and great dancers. I met them early this week for their engagement photo session downtown, and it was a joy to work with them. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in October this year!
Cuando SeungJin y Ruth se conocieron en la universidad, él se interesó en ella inmediatamente, pero a ella le interesaban más sus estudios que empezar una relación romántica. Una vez que se graduaron de ingenieros, ambos comenzaron a trabajar en la misma compañía y su amistad se reavivó, parecía que el tiempo era justo el adecuado. Su amor creció durante la pandemia y ahora están planeando casarse, su boda tendrá toques de su herencia coreana e hispana, por lo cual estoy emocionada de poder fotografiarla. SeungJin nació y creció en Corea del sur. Ruth nació en Costa Rica, de madre hondureña y padre americano. Ambos llegaron a Nashville a principios de los 2000, donde se conocieron y enamoraron.
Dato curioso: ¡su primera cita duró 18 horas, desde el amanecer hasta la medianoche!
How they met:
“SeungJin was born and raised in South Korea. Ruth was born in Costa Rica to a Honduran mom and American dad. We both moved to the Nashville area in the early 2000's. We met in college at Lipscomb but we barely talked then. SeungJin thinks Ruth didn't like him back then back he has more of a "I'm here to have fun" take to college while Ruth took her studies very seriously. When we started working at the same company, we quickly became friends.
Our relationship really started when all of our work friends went hiking for labor day in 2019. Ruth had just gotten out of a relationship but hadn't told SeungJin she was single because she knew he liked her, and she needed time before opening up any other romantic doors. On that hike SeungJin found out she was single and couldn't contain his excitement, even though he tried to show empathy. We started talking a lot more after that and our friends could all tell we were interested in each other.
We started dating right before covid so we got to know each other really well during quarantine. Some of what we love to do is watching movies, hiking, eating good food, and dancing. Another fun fact, our first date lasted 18 hours, from sunrise to midnight.”
How they got engaged:
“Ruth had been asking for months when SeungJin was going to propose. She tried to be nonchalant about it but curiosity always gets the best of her. Every year around October 19th we celebrate the anniversary of our first date (the 18 hour lond date). This last time (2022) we planned the date a bit last minute because we had so many events leading up to it we didn't have much time to plan. Little did Ruth know, SeungJin was already planning the perfect surprise. He recruited his 2 best friends to help prepare and elaborate table display with pictures of the couple throughout the year. After a late lunch eating Asian street food and a short stop at a game Cafe, SeungJin casually suggested we go to Cumberland Park before our dinner reservation. Ruth was taking her time strolling through the park, taking pictures, without realizing SeungJin was trying to get to a specific spot before the sun got too low. We turned the corner and saw a beautiful table with flower petals leading up to it. Ruth first thought it was for some of other couple but when she saw the pictures of herself, it hit her. This was the moment she'd been waiting for. SeungJin got down on one knee, asked her to marry her and she said yes!”
