Timeless elegance and refined style for a senior photo session at Nashville iconic Scarritt Bennett Center | Darien Photography Nashville Portrait Photographer
Abigail is a beautiful, intelligent, talented, quiet, creative, musical and unassuming young woman. It was an amazing pleasure to photograph her.
When I got the email from her mom asking me about Senior Photography Sessions, I was so excited because I’ve known them for a long time and I knew that they would go for my favorite vibe: timeless, simple and elegant pictures. We used to be neighbors and I first took pictures of Abigail when she was still a baby. So, you can imagine how honored I was for them to reach out after all these years.
In preparation for my photo sessions, even if I’ve known you for decades, I like sending questionnaires to gather information about your priorities, the vibe you are going for with your pictures, your favorite colors, hobbies, etc. It is helpful to know what your expectations or worries are about being photographed. I then suggest locations and I make a Pinterest board for some inspiration, based on what your answers were to my questionnaire. I enjoyed getting to know more about Abigail during this process.
When I think of Abigail’s style I I think of Grace Kelly meets Audrey Hepburn. She is not your typical teenager following trends. She knows what she likes, and she knows that less is more and quality is better than quantity. Just to give you an example: She was wearing her grandmother’s pencil skirt as part of one of her outfits.
If you see her images you may think that she is a model, but her main concern was not knowing how to pose (believe me, very few know how to pose). In no time at all, however, she was enjoying the process of trusting me to guide her, and she had a lot of fun. I did too.
Scarritt Bennett Center is a stunning display of magnificent stone buildings and manicured landscaped grounds, with interesting Gothic architectural details, such as arches, light fixtures and amazing windows. The grounds are inviting for those wanting to lose themselves in serene beauty in the middle of the city. It is less than a mile away from Vanderbilt Campus, another beautiful, favorite location for portraits. The location is especially stunning at sunrise; Abigail and her mother were happy to be there at this time of day, and it really paid off!
I hope you enjoy looking through these images, as much as I did taking them.
