Mary Love Richarson describes herself as “a double-named Nashville native who always has to explain the Southern double name thing and then proceed to spell L-O-V-E.” Mary Love is a floral designer and owner of Rosemary & Finch. Again, in Mary Love’s words, she is a “partner and wife to Ben, identical twin, urban dweller, yogi, flexi-vegan, self-care nut, world traveler.”
I met Mary Love virtually first, during our Zoom calls with our business coach. I followed her for a while on social media and loved her talent with flower design. But I knew I liked them as a couple when I saw Mary Love’s posting on IG about a surprise trip Ben planned to Mexico City. Miller and I liked them instantly when they came to our house for Mexican dinner one night; they are easy going, well traveled, and fun.
When I like someone’s work and personality I usually want to collaborate with them. I admire Mary Love’s work so much that I knew I wanted to feature her work somehow with my photography, but when I met her in person, I realized I wanted to photograph her as well. I am so happy Mary Love and Ben let me follow them during this romantic walk.
Mary Love and Ben are living their best life on the 16th floor overlooking downtown Nashville. We started their shoot in their apartment and then I followed them on a leisurely walk to their favorite spots—Mary Love holding a bouquet she designed for herself.
Flowers have the power to bring happiness and beauty to any place; but when you enjoy a walk alongside the one you love while holding a bouquet, there is a certain aura of romance that cannot be ignored. As we walked and took pictures people passing by were shouting “congratulations!”, thinking that they were newlyweds, because they looked like they were!
During this season where big weddings are being postponed, why not have an intimate wedding or elope? This is what you need: each other, your photographer, and flowers. You can celebrate with others when the world is calm again.
