Lavender fields and colorful portraits | San Miguel de Allende photographer | Travel photography
For the longest time I had in my bucket list a photo shoot in a lavender field. I finally got my wish while on my last trip to Mexico. Traveling with family is one of my favorite things to do, and this vacation was pure happiness. Most of my siblings, nieces and nephews joined my kids and I for a few days in San Miguel Allende a couple of summers ago (I can’t believe I am just now sharing this). That was our last time out of the U.S. before the pandemic started. The memories we made were great! Walking those beautiful cobblestone streets, enjoying the baroque, neoclassical and neo-gothic mix in the city's buildings, eating amazing food and talking and laughing for hours.
The highlight for everyone was visiting a semi-ghost town: Mineral de Pozos, a less than an hour away from San Miguel. Founded in the 16th century, this town is known for its abandoned haciendas and mines, and it also has a couple of lavender fields that were the main reason for me to visit. The hotel, Posada de las Minas, was the perfect place to relax and get ready for our lavender adventure. Everyone was delighted with the unique and exquisite details. We also visited one of the abandoned mines, but the photo shoot at the lavender field was dreamy and so much fun.
The memories we made on this trip have kept our family close, despite the distance and the pandemic. . I am looking forward to more experiences like these soon.
Do you love the idea of strolling by aromatic lavender fields and having your photos taken while you’re at it—but you don’t have a plan to go to Provence or Mexico any time soon?
For those that live close to Nashville, TN you are in for a treat.
There is this beautiful family-owned lavender farm in Nolensville, TN, Menkveld Farm that opens its doors to photographers like me, so that we can offer sessions to you in June. AND I was lucky enough to secure two dates: June 5th (already sold-out) and June 19th. Grab one of the VERY LIMITED sessions I have available. They are early in the day, because that is the best time when you can have both amazing light and decent weather (not too hot).
