Mini sessions are so popular these days because they are an easy way to experience working with a favorite photographer at a fraction of the cost, and time!, than a classic session.
Minis are favored by parents with young kids, and by people who want to update their family or social profile photo. You can also be creative with your time, a mini can be a fun activity for a date, I had a couple that got engaged during a mini session!
Minis are typically seasonal, my most popular time for these is Fall, which starts booking in August. I first send my availability to my mailing list VIP. If you want to be included, just click on the button below to join in.
In general, the location for mini sessions is chosen by the photographer, the clients pick a block of time, clients arrive back to back for sessions that last 15-20 minutes. In contrast, classic sessions with me are usually about 45 mins to an hour, at a location that the client chooses (I suggest places in/around Nashville) or in their own home. Classic sessions include portraits and candid shots at a more relaxed pace and are available year-round.
For clients that want more than one location and/or change of wardrobe (like seniors, or engaged couples), I offer Lifestyle sessions, but those deserve another post.
Regardless of the type of session, when you’re booking with me, you’ll see two options in the booking system: one that includes a limited number of Hi-Res files and another that includes ALL the images downloadable from your gallery. Even if you choose a limited number, you’ll always have the chance to order more at a later time. But selecting “ALL images included” at booking time will always be a better deal than buying images later. If you know that you always have a hard time picking your favorites, or if you always like to have all the files as a backup and/or to order prints later, consider the “ALL images included” option, it’s the best value for your money.
How many images will I get in my gallery? It varies, depending on the flow of your session, but for minis, expect 40+, for classic sessions 80+. I just delivered a Mini session with 94 pics, just to put it in perspective. :)
I got the gallery, now what?
When you receive your gallery, you’ll have all your edited images, curated by categories. I usually highlight some of my favorites to help you out with your selection, in case you went with the package that only includes a few downloads. Or just to make it easier to design an album or order prints. You can also make your own “favorites” collection by clicking on the heart symbol on your favorite images. Doing that will make a favorites folder for you, and you’ll be able to narrow down from there.
When you first open your gallery, there will be a “tour” to familiarize yourself with the gallery. Although, most of it is very intuitive. There is even a support chat system in case you need extra help.
You can order prints, share to social media or download each image by hovering and selecting what you want to do. Please make sure to visit the “Shop”, which has all the options for printing and products in one place, beautifully displayed for you. You can order prints, canvases, gifts, design your own heirloom books, calendars, cards, etc. Photos deserve to be printed to become family heirlooms, and they make great gifts. Sometimes I design products for you, which you can find in the section “Made for you”. I do not charge extra for the design time. You can always customize any product or ask me to make adjustments for you.
If you choose a package with ALL the files included, your gallery will be set for you to just hit the “download complete gallery'' option and you won’t be charged for it. You will be able to download single images if you’d like. The downloads will be available to you in High Resolution (best for printing) and Web-Size files (which are low-res, not for printing, but ideal for social media, online use). I recommend downloading both.
If you got a package with a limited number of files included, your gallery will be set to allow downloads for your x number of images. Just hit the download symbol on each image you’d like, and follow the prompts. Once you have downloaded the amount set in your package, you can either do nothing, or you can visit the shop and order prints, or get extra digital files. There’s no rush to do any of these, unless you enjoy a discount. I usually give my clients 20% off the first 2 weeks the gallery is up!
Also, it is a good idea to allow the system to send you marketing emails, because your galleries will be up for many months, and I usually have sales over the holidays, you’ll like taking advantage of those sales for sure!
