One of my favorite places for proposals, anniversaries or family pictures, without a doubt, is the Legislative Plaza in downtown Nashville!

As a wedding and portrait photographer, I love the classic architecture and color palette in this space, it makes for a great background for the timeless portraits I shoot. The columns of the War Memorial Auditorium stand out, as well as the Capitol Building and the gorgeous Hermitage Hotel, with options of fine dining (Drusie & Darr) or casual Cafe & Wine Bar: The Pink Hermit, nestled into a cozy corner of the hotel where you can enjoy the plaza from one of their outdoor pink tables. You can also enjoy the plaza before or after a TPAC show. Climb the stairs of the Capitol Building to have a great birds-eye view of the Legislative Plaza, and walk towards the back to enjoy a view of the Bicentennial Mall Park (I’ve photographed wedding proposals there) so romantic!

Also, if you walk through the Memorial War Auditorium towards 7th Avenue, the plaza of the William R. Snodgrass Tennessee Tower is a great place to enjoy the sunset. This whole area feels like an oasis from all the buzz of Broadway, but if that's your scene, you can walk easily from the Legislative Plaza to any Honky Tonk, bar, the Bridgestone Arena, The Ryman and grab a bite at the Assembly Food Hall on Fifth + Broadway while you're at it.

I love photographing people at the Legislative Plaza in Nashville in any season, but when the cherry trees are in bloom, there's a certain magic in the air that makes this plaza one of my favorite locations for Spring photos. The beautiful white blooms soften the cold buildings, and make the location look so elegant and dreamy.
